I keep thinking about the emotional toll this case must have had on Jonathan’s and Devone’s friends and family, especially given how long it took for justice to finally be served. I can’t imagine how hard it was for Anna Alcala, Jonathan’s mom, to live with the pain of her son's death and the terrifying harassment she endured. Receiving those packages, reminding her of her son in such an eerie and tormenting way—it's just unimaginable. It’s so frustrating to hear how crucial evidence wasn't shared effectively between agencies back then, potentially delaying the case’s progress. I wonder how many other cases experience similar setbacks due to communication issues. It's eerie to think about those packages coming from Mesilla and how that thread seemed to get lost. And even though justice is only partly served since Anna didn't live to see those responsible brought to trial, I hope that knowing the truth brings some peace to the rest of the families. Also, huge respect to the dedicated officers and detectives who worked to catch Stewart and Armendariz years later. It sounds like Special Agent Kyle Graham and Detective William Lewandowski really put their all into bringing the case to a close. At least now, Jonathan and Devone can rest a bit easier, and perhaps their families can as well.
