I’ve been following the tragic case of Aliyah Garcia, and something that’s been on my mind is the community’s response to this senseless violence. Albuquerque has faced so many challenges with gun violence, and it’s heartbreaking to see another young life cut short. After her passing, I remember reading about vigils held in her honor, where friends, family, and neighbors came together to remember Aliyah and support one another. It's remarkable how such gatherings can show solidarity and the collective yearning for change. These events hopefully serve as reminders that Aliyah's life had meaning and that the community is resilient. Thinking about her family and the pain they're enduring is just overwhelming. Does anyone else feel like community engagement could be a powerful tool in preventing future tragedies like this? What more can we do as a community to honor victims and push for necessary changes?
