Has anyone else been following the tragic case of Jahmall Burge? I’ve been thinking a lot about the roles that everyone played leading up to the incident. It’s unsettling how under different circumstances, things might have turned out differently. One aspect I find so puzzling is how Jahmall brought his handgun inside the house after asking for permission. It seems like such an alarming situation, but maybe it speaks to a trust or bond he believed he had with those in the house, particularly with Mary Jane Ramirez. I imagine she must be devastated, first losing someone she cared for over a decade and then having to witness such a violent event unfold. It’s chilling to think how Johnny Rae Vigil was released from jail just that afternoon, then ended up involved in another life-altering incident mere hours later. The timing of everything feels so strange. I just hope that, in the end, the sentencing provides some measure of peace or closure for Jahmall’s family. They deserve support as they continue to process this tragedy.
