I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact of Jimmy Griego’s murder on the wider Tesuque community. It’s not always seen how deeply these events affect not just those directly involved but an entire community. From what I've gathered, Jimmy was a staple in his community, known for his long tenure at the Santa Fe Opera and the strong relationships he built there over four decades. This tragedy is a reminder of how interpersonal conflicts can ripple through countless lives. His dedication to his work and his kindness to those around him seemed to touch so many people. It’s just so hard to comprehend how an issue over inheritance could escalate to this point. My heart goes out to his wife, Emily, and their children and grandchildren. Losing him in such a terrible way, especially when it involves family, must be unimaginable. For those who knew him through the opera or the Tesuque community, it might feel as though a part of their daily life is now missing. How do we support communities in the aftermath? Maybe sharing memories and leaning on each other is a start. If anyone has thoughts or experiences on how to cope or help others heal, I’d love to hear.
