I’ve been following the discussion on Romo Lucero’s tragic death, and I can’t stop thinking about the bigger picture. It’s tough not to feel the weight of how rampant the violence was back in Albuquerque during that time. We lost too many lives in 2021, and Lucero’s case is a grim reminder of it all. What strikes me is the APD’s effort to boost their community outreach and investigative strategies in response to these incidents. It’s crucial for us, as a community, to support and engage with these initiatives. The violence affects everyone, and I firmly believe community involvement can drive real change, helping to prevent the kind of loss Lucero’s family is now facing. I didn't know him personally, but seeing how his family rallied to honor his life is truly moving. It shows the strength people find amidst such sorrow. I hope this pushes us all to foster stronger bonds within our community, ensuring we remember these tragedies don’t define us but can help bring about much-needed change.
