Has anyone else been following the Martesse Patterson case? I just can't stop thinking about the other person who was caught in the crossfire and got injured. With all the focus on Martesse's tragic death, which is, of course, a huge loss, it seems like this second victim is almost forgotten. Who are they? How are they doing now? I really hope they have a support system around them during this awful time. It's disturbing to think how a random act of violence can impact so many lives. Sending thoughts and strength to everyone dealing with this in Albuquerque. Stay vigilant, everyone, and if you know anything, please, reach out to Crime Stoppers. Did anyone else here know Martesse from the Duke City Gladiators days? I didn’t know him personally, but I attended a few of their games last season, and he was such a force on the field. I’m still trying to wrap my head around how such a promising life could be cut short like this.
The news of his passing has really shaken me, especially since I live just a few blocks from where it happened. Albuquerque has always had its share of issues, but this one hits differently because Martesse seemed truly dedicated to making a positive impact here. I’ve heard from a friend who met him at an anti-bullying event that he was nothing like the typical athlete stereotype—just an all-around genuine and humble guy.
I hope whoever is responsible is brought to justice soon. It's unnerving to think that a person capable of such violence is still out there. My thoughts are with his family and the Gladiators team during this incredibly difficult time. If any of you have any updates or want to share more about his community work, I’d love to hear it. Let's remember Martesse for the legacy he left, both on and off the field.
