I came across the case of Byron Begay recently and couldn’t stop thinking about his sister’s perspective. It must be incredibly frustrating for Octavia Johnson and the family to feel like they’re stuck in limbo. The fact that the community might know who did this, yet no arrest has been made, must be infuriating for them. I understand why the police emphasize not taking matters into their own hands, but it seems like such a delicate balance between protecting the investigation and needing a sense of justice and closure. Hopefully, the forensics from Santa Fe will shed some new light, and the Begay family can eventually find some peace. Thoughts go out to them as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
