Hey everyone, I’ve been digging into the Eugene “Gene” Hyatt and Kami Vollendroff case, and something is really sticking with me. So, we know that Gene's shoe was found near Boiler Bay Cove, but I keep wondering about the tide pools they planned to visit. Is there any chance they made it to these pools before the storm hit? I’ve read somewhere that conditions can change rapidly there with incoming tides, which could be more dangerous than initially assumed.
Also, has anyone dug into the weather reports from that specific day? Was that storm as severe as described? I’m curious if the waves came in quicker than expected or if there was a freak occurrence with the tides. It just seems like such a tragic coincidence for them to have vanished right when the weather turned. If you have any old news clippings or meteorological data from that day, I'd love to see it. Not sure if it'll make a difference after all these years, but it feels like there's more to unravel with the timeline and weather conditions. Thoughts?
I've been diving deep into the mysterious disappearance of Gene Hyatt and Kami Vollendroff from Depoe Bay back in 2001. It's such a perplexing case, and one detail that really stands out to me is the discovery of Gene's shoe near Boiler Bay Cove. I can't help but wonder if its location suggests anything about the potential path they might have taken that day.
Was it found closer to the water, or higher up on the rocks? Could it tell us more about their movements before the storm hit? I haven't come across any official reports that give specifics about this, but it seems like anything could help paint a clearer picture of what happened. Has anyone heard more about the significance of the shoe's location, or know if there have been any similar cases in that area where weather and geography played a crucial role?
