Does anyone else feel like the system really failed Honorio Hernandez and so many others in 2015? It’s heartbreaking to see yet another young life cut short by gun violence. I've been digging into that year's data, and it’s overwhelming to see how many families were left dealing with loss. I came across the Chicago Citizen Law Enforcement Analysis and Reporting (CLEAR) system, and while it's meant to offer transparency, there's still so much the numbers can't convey. Honorio was only 23, and like him, there are stories behind each statistic that deserve attention and action. Honorio's case made me think about how we can push for more community-based interventions rather than just relying on policing. What can local authorities do differently? What role do we, as community members, have to play? This pattern of violence is far too common, and it's hard not to feel frustrated about the lack of progress in addressing the underlying issues. Sending love and strength to Honorio's family and everyone else affected by similar tragedies. Let’s keep talking about solutions and not let these names become just another number.
