I've been going down the rabbit hole with the John Mulligan case and just can't shake how sketchy the timing of that cell phone discovery was. A week after the murder, and suddenly it's just sitting there in the console? Seems off to me. We've seen it in true crime before when key evidence is "found" conveniently late in the game. If the crime scene was swept thoroughly, as you'd expect in such a high-profile case, there’s no way they would have just overlooked a cell phone.
I'm not saying I have the answers, but it just makes you wonder if there was a rush to close the case without asking the right questions. Was there pressure internally to find a scapegoat, or is it genuinely possible for something like this to be missed? My heart goes out to Mulligan's family, who’ve had to endure the layers of controversy on top of losing a loved one. Any insights or similar cases where evidence pops up out of nowhere could help make sense of this.
Hey everyone,
I've been diving into the Detective Mulligan case, and I just cannot wrap my head around the role of Rosa Sanchez as a witness. It's troubling to consider how much hanging on that single photo identification, which by all accounts seems pretty dubious. Why was such a flimsy eyewitness account played up so much? Especially when her identification of Sean Ellis didn’t occur until a second unorthodox session, which sounds sketchy at best. From what I've read, it seems bizarre that a witness’s initial vague statement eventually aligned so perfectly with the narrative some detectives were pushing.
I’m curious about what you all think. Is this a classic case of witness manipulation? Can we trust an ID session that seems so... coached? It’s hard not to feel deeply for Ellis having spent 22 years behind bars all while holding onto his innocence. It's unsettling that so many questions exist around the investigation, and it makes me wonder about the unseen pressures on witnesses in high-profile cases like this.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, especially if anyone has insight into similar cases or experiences with witness testimony.
Stay safe out there.
