Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the less-lethal weapons used by police, especially after revisiting the tragic case of Victoria Snelgrove. It’s unsettling to realize how the intention behind using these weapons can have such devastating and unintended consequences. I just read that the Boston Police Department stopped using the FN 303 completely after the incident, and they even destroyed them in 2007. It’s alarming to think about how a tool meant to manage crowds ended up taking the life of someone as innocent as Victoria.
What's also striking is the broader impact. Several other police departments decided to stop using the FN 303 too. It’s a reminder of how these tragedies can spark change, though it's incredibly upsetting that it often takes a life lost to see these revisions happen.
Victoria's story still makes my heart ache for her family and friends. I can't imagine the pain they've had to endure. While the measures taken now won't bring her back, I truly hope it prevents something like this from happening again. I’m interested to hear what others think about the changes in police tactics and how effective they are in protecting both civilians and officers.
RIP Victoria. Sending love and strength to all who loved her.
Hey everyone,
I've been reading through the details of the Victoria Snelgrove case, and my heart aches thinking about how a night of celebration turned into such a tragedy. What sticks with me is how the entire system seemed to fail her that night. The dense crowd blocking the ambulances is such a chilling reminder of how disorganized things were. It makes you wonder if more lives could be at risk in similar situations and what could be done differently to ensure fast medical response.
Does anyone know if there have been changes in crowd control protocols in Boston since then, or how they handle large events now? I'm curious if any lessons learned from that night were truly integrated into future planning. It's just so important that something positive comes out of such a loss, to prevent it from happening again.
Thanks for any insights. Let's not forget Victoria and the impact she's had on how we think about public safety.
Stay safe, everyone.
