I came across Alexander Matthew Mendes's name while visiting the Garden of Peace in Boston, and it struck me how many lives have been cut short due to violence in our city. I never knew him personally, but I can’t help but feel the pain his loved ones must be enduring daily. It's frustrating to read about cases like Alexander's where information is scarce and justice seems slow or even elusive. It makes me think about how critical it is for eyewitnesses or anyone with information to step forward. I understand why some might hesitate, considering the fear and risk involved, but without community involvement, these investigations can stall. Boston has programs encouraging people to share what they know while protecting their identities. I really hope anyone with even the smallest piece of information about Alexander’s case feels empowered to speak up. My heart goes out to Alexander’s family and friends. It must be incredibly difficult to navigate life without him, especially with so many unanswered questions. As a member of this community, I am hopeful that justice will eventually be served, and we will see a day when tragedies like this become a thing of the past.
