Has anyone else been wondering about the role of local illegal operations in the disappearances of Michael Desmet and Joseph Wilma? I mean, it's curious, isn't it, that these guys went missing around the same time law enforcement cracked down on the marijuana garden? Considering Wilma's remains were found but there's still zero sign of Desmet, it makes you think Desmet might have been caught up in something deeper. There’s something unsettling about how a whole person can just vanish like this, especially in an area known for such dangerous activities. Was Desmet in the wrong place at the wrong time, or was there more going on behind the scenes that hasn't come to light yet? The mystery here gets under my skin... Anyone else with any theories or thoughts?
Has anyone dug into the timeline leading up to the discovery of Joseph Wilma's remains? In particular, I'm curious about the circumstances around the hiker who stumbled upon the jawbone back in 2007. Seems like such a remote location, so I'm wondering what drew the hiker there. Was this an area where people regularly hiked, or was it considered out of the way even for locals? It might be nothing, but I'm curious whether there were any known missing persons from the region that would have prompted searches there before that discovery. Something about the timing just seems off, especially considering the complexity of illegal activities surrounding the area. I can’t stop thinking about how the case would be different if Michael Desmet's remains had been found around the same time. Thoughts?
Has anyone looked into the activity surrounding the property itself? I know the area is pretty remote and there was an illegal grow site, but I’m curious if there were any other incidents reported around Covelo around the time of Michael Desmet and Joseph Wilma’s disappearance. It seems like there could be a pattern there or some kind of undercurrent in the community. It’s so strange that the truck was found but not a single trace of Michael. Makes me wonder if there might be another site nearby or if he came across someone else he wasn’t supposed to. Just trying to dig deeper since it feels like the case went cold following the initial shocking discoveries. Thoughts?
