Michael William Desmet, a 33-year-old man, disappeared on August 26, 2005, along with 52-year-old Joseph Clarence Wilma Jr. The two men were last seen leaving Humboldt County, California, and heading to Wilma’s remote property in Covelo. They were driving Wilma's maroon 1998 Toyota pickup truck. Shortly before their disappearance, law enforcement had eradicated a large illicit marijuana garden on Wilma's property.
