I’ve been following the tragic case of Jeffrey Montaque and Wilfred Peters ever since the heartbreaking night in June 2018. I recently read more about the impact Jeffrey’s death had on his family and friends, and it was truly moving. He seems to have been such a pillar for his family, guiding them through some really tough times. I found it particularly inspiring how he helped his family find shelter during those challenging periods through organizations like Bridge Over Troubled Waters. It’s a reminder of how substantial his absence must feel for those who relied on his strength and kindness. Such a senseless loss for a family who had already faced so many struggles. I continue to send my thoughts to everyone affected, especially his siblings who shared such vivid memories of his courage and responsibility. It must bring them a little comfort knowing that with Antoine's arrest, there’s a chance for justice. I can’t imagine how important it is for them and the Peters family to have some resolution, even if the pain of losing someone like Jeffrey never truly goes away.
