Hey everyone,
I just can't stop thinking about the impact this terrible incident must have had on Migdalia's family, especially her children, if she had any, and those who loved her. Can you imagine receiving that kind of news? It’s simply unimaginable. It seems like we've been hearing so much lately about the pitfalls of the current protection systems. What really sticks with me is the fact that she tried to seek help by applying for a restraining order, and it was denied. If the system had listened, maybe Migdalia would still be with us today. How do we rally around such cases to ensure this doesn't keep happening? Families and friends should never have to worry about the safety of themselves or their loved ones when these measures are supposed to protect them. It’s just so overwhelming to think about the steps that could have been taken to prevent this. I hope we can find ways to do better. ?
Would love to hear your thoughts.
It's incredibly sad to think about what Migdalia Perez-Mendez went through before her death. I can't stop thinking about the restraining order she filed—which was denied. It makes me wonder how many other victims are in similar situations, navigating the legal system while hoping for protection. I know the courts have guidelines they follow, but it still feels like something fell through the cracks here. What more could have been done? It’s so frustrating and upsetting. My heart goes out to Migdalia's family and friends. They deserve answers and changes to prevent something like this from happening again. Let's keep pushing for better support and protection for those dealing with domestic violence.
I'm just sitting here reflecting on the small details and thinking about the neighbors in Migdalia's apartment building. I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been for them to hear the commotion or the aftermath of such a horrific incident. The trauma of experiencing something like this indirectly must have a lingering impact, and it reminds me how violence doesn't just affect the immediate victims but ripples out into the community. I hope they've been able to find some peace and are getting any support they might need. Does anyone know if any local community counseling was set up for those who lived nearby? It seems like it would be so important for healing after such a tragedy. Also, thinking of Migdalia's family and hoping they're surrounded by love and support during these difficult times. ?
