Does anyone else find it chilling how the timing of the Fix and Altig murders happened on Thanksgiving Day? It's supposed to be a day about togetherness, and here we have a brutal crime painting such a stark contrast. I can't wrap my head around how someone could carry out something so violent on a day meant for gratitude and family. My heart goes out to the families of Darcey and Douglas, knowing they must relive this trauma every Thanksgiving. It’s unsettling to think that someone they might have once trusted, given the college connection, could be capable of such horror. Has anyone delved deeper into Woodfield’s past? I wonder if there were signs missed in his earlier years that could have pointed to this trajectory.
It's incredibly chilling to think about the ripple effect that Randall Woodfield's crimes had on communities up and down the I-5. I was reading about Darcey Renee Fix and Douglas Keith Altig, and it struck me how Thanksgiving is often about coming together with family, yet they faced such a horrific end on a day meant for gratitude and warmth. Imagining their families struggling with such a loss at that time of year is truly hard to bear.
What’s particularly haunting to me is the detail that Darcey had once been connected to Woodfield through mutual acquaintances. It begs the question of trust and the danger sometimes looming too close for comfort—it just reminds me how unsettling it is that someone many would have considered 'just another face from the past' could turn out to be so monstrous.
While he’s serving time justice-wise, it feels like the emotional toll on the victims’ loved ones must be lifelong. Darcey's and Douglas's lives were stolen in such a brutal manner, and it’s so frustrating that this clearly dangerous individual managed to continue his horrific actions before he was finally stopped. These crimes highlight flaws in the initial investigations, and one can only hope we've learned and improved since then.
