I was thinking about little Lionel and how his love for sports was mentioned in the local news a while back. Can't help but imagine him running around, full of excitement, maybe playing catch or kicking a soccer ball around the apartment complex. It's such a tragedy that his young life, filled with potential and dreams, was cut so short by such senseless violence. My heart really goes out to his friends who might have been at the park waiting to play with him that morning, completely unaware of the terrible things happening at his home. Childhood was supposed to be a time for joy and play, not nightmares like this. Really hope we can continue to have conversations about how we can protect families from domestic violence and prevent these tragic losses in the future. Hug your loved ones a little tighter today.
