I’ve been following the case of Box and can’t stop thinking about the role of de-escalation techniques in such tense situations. With domestic disputes often being very volatile, I wonder if the situation could have been handled differently by the police. It’s tragic that things ended in a loss of life, and my heart goes out to Box's family. But it makes me think... do the officers undergo enough training to manage these high-pressure situations? Was there an opportunity to avoid such a devastating outcome? I really hope something can come from this case that makes a difference in future police responses. Would love to hear others' thoughts on this or if anyone knows more about how police training has evolved in recent years.
