I recently came across a detail about Lieutenant Roush that truly stuck with me—he was just a few months away from retiring. It’s so tragic to think how close he was to enjoying a well-deserved rest after giving so much of his life to the force and the community. It absolutely breaks my heart to imagine his family preparing to celebrate that milestone only to be faced with such a horrific loss instead. Just think of all the moments they missed out on together, moments they had probably been looking forward to for a long time. It’s a stark reminder of the unpredictability these officers face and the impact on those left behind. Sending all the love and strength to the Roush and Duncan families and to anyone who has ever lost a loved one in similar circumstances.
