It's been over four decades since Officer Paul J. Harmon lost his life while bravely serving his community, yet his story remains deeply impactful. I've always been struck by the courage it must have taken for Ted Norman, the 77-year-old neighbor, to step forward and testify. Living so close to where such a horrifying event unfolded, it must have been terrifying for him and his young granddaughter, Angela Kay Norman. Witnessing something so traumatic at such a close range and then having to relive it in court to bring justice to Officer Harmon is a testament to their resilience. It makes you realize how a single act of bravery from witnesses can significantly impact the pursuit of justice. My heart truly goes out to not only Officer Harmon's family but also to the Norman family, who had to navigate through the aftermath of that tragic night. I'm often left wondering how they've managed to cope with the memories of that event and how it has affected their lives since.
