Hi everyone, I've been going through some old cases, and the story of Deputy Sheriff Jonathan Dwayne Janey really got to me. I was wondering if anyone knows more about the community's response right after the incident. It's unimaginable how his family must have felt losing him so violently, and I'm curious if Winfield did anything special to cope in the wake of his death. Seeing that the I-64 overpass was renamed in his honor is touching, but it made me think about the immediate aftermath. Did the local community rally around his family or hold any events to celebrate his life and service? Hoping someone here might have some insight into that period. Thanks in advance to anyone who can share a bit more about how the people who knew him have kept his memory alive through the years.
