I’ve been thinking about the training relationships between officers and trooper trainees, like in Trooper Hacker’s case. It must be incredibly difficult for the trainee who was there that night, witnessing such a tragedy so early in their career. I can't imagine the emotional impact it's had on them. Entering the force with hopes to serve and protect, only to face such a life-altering situation right alongside your mentor. I hope that they’ve received the support they need to navigate through the trauma and continue their career with strength and resilience. Let’s not forget the psychological toll these incidents can have on those who survive them. Embracing the heroes among us also means recognizing and supporting those who carry the unseen burdens.
