Hey everyone, I’ve been following the tragic case of the Hopkins brothers’ murder in Barboursville, WV, and I just wanted to talk a bit about the firearms found at Rodney Bruce Black’s home.
I find it incredibly concerning that Black had an arsenal of 37 long guns and 17 handguns, especially given his long history of mental health issues. How was he able to legally possess so many weapons? This really gets me thinking about the gun control laws and mental health assessment processes in place. Shouldn't there be stricter regulations to prevent such situations, especially for individuals with known mental health problems?
I can't even begin to imagine how the Hopkins family must feel knowing that someone as equipped as Black was living nearby. It seems like there were so many red flags that, if addressed, might have prevented this tragedy. My heart goes out to Denise Hopkins and the rest of the family as they try to find justice and navigate through such a difficult time. They deserve answers and reforms that could help prevent future tragedies like this one.
What are everyone else’s thoughts on the gun ownership laws in relation to mental health? Are there any updates on the discussions or reforms happening in light of this case?
