The story of Nicholas "Nicky Darling" Robinson is just so deeply moving. This tragedy has really shed light on the struggles faced by so many in neighborhoods like South Shore. I was recently reading about how his friends and family have turned his grave into a poignant memorial, with flowers and personal notes, a testament to how much he was loved. It's hard to imagine the pain they endure every day. His death, along with so many others in 2016, really underlines the urgent need for solutions to the violence plaguing Chicago. There's a sense of helplessness, but also resilience, in these communities. I truly hope that ongoing efforts, both from within the community and from broader initiatives, can make a difference. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own neighborhood. ?
