I've been looking into the McAninch family tragedy from 1937, and while I find myself reflecting on the harsh realities of violence back then, I'm struck by the absence of a wider narrative around it. It's been over 80 years, and these little ones—Richard, Geraldine, and Cora Belle—deserve their stories to be told, not just as victims but as part of a family that suffered unimaginable loss. Does anyone know if there were any community efforts back then to support the surviving family members? I wonder if they had the same systems of support or awareness that we see mobilized today after similar tragic incidents. My heart goes out to anyone who carries their memory forward.
