I'm truly sorry to hear about Charis Eaton's tragic story. It's so disheartening to see lives cut short, especially in communities struggling with so much. What really gets me is the lack of witness cooperation in these cases—I can't imagine the frustration his family must feel, and it's understandable why residents might hold back given the fear of retaliation or mistrust in law enforcement. This cycle inhibits so much potential for change and justice. I wonder if there's a way that community programs can build more trust so that people feel safer coming forward. It seems like there needs to be a bridge to connect the community with law enforcement more effectively. Does anyone know of successful examples of this in similar neighborhoods? Maybe there's hope to apply those strategies in Englewood. My heart goes out to all affected by this tragedy.
