I've been reading up on the Clifford Herbert Mutum case and something that's been bothering me is the apparent silence surrounding any possible witnesses. Davenport isn't a huge place, so you'd think someone might've seen or heard something that could provide a clue. It's frustrating to imagine a community where this kind of violence happens and there isn't anyone who can step forward to fill in the gaps, especially since so many years have passed. I can't help but wonder if there are folks out there who might remember something now, something that seemed insignificant back then but could be important today. My heart goes out to Clifford's family, having to endure decades of not knowing must be incredibly difficult. If anyone here has connections to Davenport or insights into how things were back in '72, maybe we can piece together some of those missing details?
Hi everyone,
I've been digging into the case of Clifford Herbert Mutum, and it's disheartening how little info is out there about what happened to him. One aspect that's been nagging at me is the location where the tragedy took place—Davenport, Iowa. I wonder how active the community and local law enforcement were in tackling gun violence around that time. In 1972, was Davenport known for other similar incidents, or did this really jolt the community?
It makes me think about Clifford’s friends and family. They must have been left with so many questions and doubts, especially if the case just went cold. With such limited access to what followed his murder, it’s tough to gauge if Clifford’s tragedy was just a single, unfortunate event or a piece of a larger pattern in the area. If anyone has more historical context about Davenport back then, it’d be helpful to get a better understanding.
Let's keep his memory alive and hope some more light gets shed on his story.
Take care, everyone.
Has anyone looked into Clifford Herbert Mutum’s family or friends at the time? I wonder if they had any reasons to suspect someone or noticed any suspicious activity in the days leading up to the murder. It must have been incredibly difficult for those who knew and loved him to be left with so few answers all these years. I can't imagine the pain of not having closure. It's strange how some cases seem to slip through the cracks without the attention they deserve. Sometimes, speaking with people close to the victim can provide new insights or memories that were overlooked. Perhaps there are still people around who can shed light on what might have happened back then. For the sake of Clifford and his family, I hope someone is still digging into this cold case. We owe it to them to keep looking for the truth.
