It's difficult not to feel a deep sense of sorrow for the loved ones of the Gilbert family, especially when considering the struggles faced by the eldest daughter, Dawn. This detail I came across about Dawn fighting back and being restrained is not only chilling but also speaks volumes about her bravery in such a terrifying situation. It's alarming to think what she must have been experiencing in those final moments. This element of the case truly haunts me and serves as a poignant reminder of the unspeakable courage she mustered, even in the face of immense danger. I can't help but wish there had been someone or something to intervene before everything escalated to this point. Does anyone know if there has been any community memorial or tribute set up for the family in Delmar? I think honoring their memory could bring some semblance of comfort and healing to those who were close to them. My thoughts are with the family and the Delmar community as they continue to process this tragedy.

Hi everyone, I've been reading up on the Gilbert family tragedy and can't stop thinking about those poor children. Does anyone know if there were any school records or accounts from teachers about the kids, especially Dawn since it seems she tried to fight back? It's just so hard to imagine what those kids might have been going through in their day-to-day lives leading up to this horrific event. I wonder if there were any signs that things weren't right at home or moments where they might have reached out for help, even subtly. It’s awful to think they were suffering in silence. My heart goes out to the teachers and classmates who must have been devastated by the loss. If anyone has come across any details from teachers or mentions in school records, please share. It's important to remember the kids and understand their experiences in any way we can. Stay safe, everyone.

I was thinking about Dawn and her final moments, and it just breaks my soul. I can't even imagine the terror and confusion she must have felt. It's haunting that she was the only one who seemed to have woken up and realized what was happening. To struggle with someone who is supposed to protect you, and then be tied up, is beyond comprehension. It must have been something that was so out of place and shocking, even to her, until she realized the intent. I hope, in those terrifying moments, that she knew she wasn't alone in her fear and that her family was with her in those last moments. It's just so cruel. My heart goes out to anyone who knew the Gilberts, both from Delmar and beyond. They deserved so much more than this senseless act.
