Hello everyone, I've been following the case of Da'Bryan Smith with a heavy heart, and there's one aspect that really stands out to me: the role of the community in finding justice. It’s been almost seven years, and I can't help but wonder if there's more that can be done locally to support the investigation.
I read that Da'Bryan was inspired to coach and mentor youth, which tells me he was someone who truly believed in the power of community. I think it’s crucial for people who might have information to come forward, even if it’s anonymously, to honor him and the life he wanted to build here in Des Moines. We've seen how collective community actions can sometimes help uncover truths that might otherwise stay hidden.
It's so frustrating that his loved ones are still left with unanswered questions, and I genuinely hope that someone, somewhere decides to speak up so they can get the closure they need. If anyone has thoughts on how community members can safely assist or encourage others to share what they know, I’d love to hear your ideas. Every little effort might just be the missing piece to help solve this terrible crime. Sending love and strength to Da'Bryan’s family and friends.
