Hey everyone, I’ve been following the tragic case of Jesus A. Juarez, and my heart goes out to his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. It's deeply unsettling to think about how the changes in policing strategies, like the reduction in stop-and-frisk, may have influenced the wave of violence in Chicago neighborhoods back in 2016. In particular, I’ve been wondering about the impact of losing programs like Cure Violence during that critical time. These initiatives seemed to play a key role in reducing tensions and mediating gang conflicts. I can't help but think that with these programs fully funded and operational, perhaps the outcomes might have been different for Jesus and many others. I’m curious to hear what others think about the effectiveness of such intervention programs and whether similar strategies could still be part of the solution moving forward. Stay safe, everyone.
