I recently came across some details about the tragic shooting at Cornerstone Church and wanted to share an angle that I haven't seen much discussed. It's utterly devastating that Eden Montang and Vivian Flores lost their lives, but what struck me heavily was the role community support played in the aftermath. Following the shooting, Ames and the Iowa State University community rallied incredibly around the victims' families. Many of Eden and Vivian’s friends organized vigils and support circles to provide comfort and solidarity. It’s clear how deeply intertwined the community is, and it’s a small consolation that in such dark times, people come together to provide support and healing spaces. Knowing how people actually showed up for each other during this painful time makes me believe in the resilience and compassion of humanity, even amidst such sorrow. Is there anyone else who saw stories of community support that maybe didn’t get as much attention but should have?
