I’ve been researching the tragic incident involving Deputy Samuel F. Jenkins and Sheriff Jesse Tyler, and I’m struck by the utter bravery these two lawmen displayed when facing such danger. It is truly bewildering how a routine posse mission could turn fatal so quickly. In particular, I've been curious about how law enforcement communication worked during that time. With today’s technology, officers have radios and other means to stay informed, but back in 1900, they relied mostly on trust and local knowledge. To approach a camp without knowing who they were truly dealing with is a testament to their courage and dedication. It’s devastating to think about how both of them lost their lives, but their attempts to uphold justice in a lawless land shouldn’t go unremembered. My heart goes out to their families and anyone connected to them who had to endure such a tragic event without the closure of capturing those responsible at the time.

I was reading about the tragic incident involving Deputy Samuel F. Jenkins and Sheriff Jesse Tyler, and my heart goes out to their families even after so many years. I can't imagine the grief and shock that hit their loved ones upon learning the news. It's a harsh reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers faced, especially when dealing with notorious outlaws like Kid Curry. What's particularly painful is that justice seemed just out of reach for so long, with the assailants managing to escape at first. It’s haunting to think about how such violence occurred in what was supposed to be a routine part of their duties. How did the community of Ogden and surrounding areas cope with such a loss back then? It must have been a time of heightened fear and sadness.
