I've been trying to wrap my head around the impact these tragedies have on the families and communities left behind. It’s just beyond sad to think about how Kourtney’s dreams and future were abruptly taken from him. What’s really sticking with me is how his death highlights a much bigger problem that the city faces: the need for systemic change. It’s so clear that we need stronger community support systems and resources in neighborhoods like Englewood. This cycle of violence is devastating, and it scares me to think about how many other young lives are at risk. My heart truly goes out to Kourtney's family and friends. I can't imagine how difficult this must be for them. It's stories like his that make me hope for genuine change and reform in Chicago—so that no more families have to endure such unimaginable loss.
