I’ve been thinking a lot about the tragic case of little Zack Peck, and my heart goes out to his loved ones. What really hits me hard is what Zachary's family must be going through right now. It’s unimaginable to think about the pain and trauma of losing a child in such a horrific manner. This whole situation has got me questioning how effective our mental health systems really are. Valerie clearly needed more support, and maybe that could’ve changed things. Why wasn't more done when she first showed signs of distress back in July? It makes me wonder if others in similar situations are getting lost in the cracks as well. If there’s one lesson we should learn from this, it’s that we have to speak up and push for better mental health resources in our communities. We owe it to Zack and to all the families out there who might be struggling silently.
