It's been really weighing on my mind how international cooperation was pivotal in tracking down and capturing Burciaga-Perea. The fact that different agencies from the U.S. and Mexico worked together to locate him is truly significant. It makes you realize how much work goes into these manhunts and how dedicated these officers and agencies must have been to bring this person to justice. I can't imagine the relief mixed with sorrow Gaby's family must feel, knowing that the person responsible for such a tragic loss is now facing trial. It's a small step toward closure. Hoping the legal process provides Gaby's loved ones some semblance of justice they so deserve. My thoughts go out to her family and especially her young daughter, who had to endure such an unimaginable trauma. It's stories like these that remind us of the real human cost behind the headlines.
