Ramel Hicks, 34, was fatally shot on June 20, 2016, in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. The shooting happened about 12:45 a.m. in the 1500 block of West 69th Street; Hicks later died at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Known as Pooh, he was remembered for his humor, cooking, artistic talents and work as a tattoo artist and handyman.

That night he had attended a family picnic and was handing out leftover food to homeless people before a confrontation with two men preceded the shooting. Witnesses believed the attackers returned with others, including a young woman suspected of carrying the gun used in the killing. Investigators later linked his death to broader gang activity by a faction called the Goonie Boss that was implicated in multiple homicides and racketeering in Englewood.

Did anyone in the neighborhood know Ramel or see what happened that night?
