Has anyone else been following the case of Eric Lewis from New Haven? I’ve been thinking about the impact this tragedy must have had, not just on his loved ones, but on the entire Chapel Street neighborhood. It's a place where people should feel safe walking around, yet the violence seems relentless. I can only imagine the anxiety folks must feel knowing a shooting happened in their community. It's also chilling to think that Elias Rivers was able to flee so far before getting caught. This must have been a tough time for everyone who knew Eric, waiting for justice while dealing with such a loss. I hope this brings some semblance of peace to his family. Would love to hear thoughts from others who might be familiar with New Haven or have been through something similar in their communities. Stay safe out there, everyone.

It's been over five years since Eric Lewis was taken from his community, yet I continue to find myself drawn to the details of that awful day in April 2018. One thing I've seen discussed often is the length of Elias Jamar Rivers' arrest record, stretching back nearly two decades before this tragedy. How does someone with such a history manage to continuously slip through the cracks of the system without proper intervention? It’s deeply unsettling thinking about all the missed opportunities that could have potentially prevented this outcome. I can only imagine the frustration and anger Eric's family and friends must feel knowing that the system didn't stop Rivers in time. It's important that we continue to have these conversations about justice and reform, not just for Eric, but for everyone affected by similar stories. My thoughts go out to those who who knew and loved Eric as they continue to grapple with this loss.
