I was reading about the tragedy involving Della and Sterling Jette, and something that hit me deeply was how close-knit the Watertown community must have been. It's clear that both teens were well-loved at Kaynor Technical High School, considering all the tributes from friends and teachers. Losing two vibrant young lives like that must have left such a hollow in that school community. Thinking of the teachers who saw them every day, coaching or mentoring them—how does one process such a loss? Especially knowing the promise these kids had, both academically and in sports. It must have felt like losing family to them, too. The fact that the community rallied with such grief and support shows how much Della and Sterling meant there. I hope the ongoing court proceedings and community gatherings bring some measure of peace and comfort to those left behind, although I know it's no substitute for the two bright lights lost too soon.
