I recently stumbled across this tragic case from back in 1935, and it's really gotten under my skin. Deputy Park Franklin Williams seems to have been one of those genuinely good people who wanted to make a positive impact in his community. It's so devastating to think that someone could have been taken away from his family—especially his nine children—over something as senseless as 15 cents and a pocket comb. I can't help but think about the impact this must have had on Greene County back then. It must have been such a shock for everyone involved, especially losing such a dedicated law enforcement officer. Sending love to the family; it never gets easier no matter how many years pass. Does anyone know how his family managed after this event? I'd be interested to learn more about them if anyone has info.
