I’ve been following the case of Robert McClinton, and it's deeply troubling to think about how many families in Chicago have faced similar tragedies during that violent year. It strikes me how Robert, just 29 years old, became one of the 764 homicide victims that year—a staggering number that puts into perspective the scale of the violence. From what I understand, Robert wasn’t involved in any criminal activity, but rather was caught in the crossfire of a city struggling with a surge in gun violence. It makes me wonder about the broader factors that might have contributed to this spike. Were there particular neighborhoods more affected, or was it a city-wide issue? And how are communities coping with the aftermath? I can’t imagine the pain his family must be enduring, not only with the loss of their loved one but also with the frustration of unanswered questions. I hope that, in time, justice serves not just as a legal remedy but as a foundation for healing and prevention. Thoughts with the McClintons and all who knew Robert.
