Was anyone else following the news around the spike in homicides in Chicago back in 2016? Francisco Guzman’s murder is yet another tragic reminder of how out of hand things got during that time. I can't imagine what his family and friends must be going through. It sounds like he was loved dearly by his parents and siblings. The changes in police tactics and the resulting decrease in proactive measures likely didn't make things any easier for residents like Francisco. Does anyone here know how these policy shifts directly impacted communities at risk? I keep thinking about how difficult it must be for families trying to find justice amidst such complex circumstances. My thoughts are with Francisco’s loved ones and everyone affected by the violence during that turbulent year.
