It's been five years since that tragic day at Riverside Apartments, and I still find myself thinking about Demetrius Hoard and how much he meant to those who knew him. There’s so much focus on the court proceedings and the suspect, but I feel we shouldn't forget the person Demetrius was—a vibrant young man whose life was cut far too short. I recently read a touching tribute from one of his college friends who described him as someone who could light up any room and was always there when you needed him. It made me reflect on how these incidents affect not only the victim’s family but also friends and community members who are left with a void that can't easily be filled. My thoughts are with all of them as they continue to cope with their loss.
