I've been thinking about Xing Li's case, and something that's been on my mind is the lack of communication methods available to him. I mean, he can't speak or use ASL, so writing in Chinese is really his only option. I'm wondering how much this might have contributed to him becoming disoriented or unable to ask for help if he needed it. Maybe he tried to write down his needs or directions, but if he encountered someone who couldn't understand Chinese, that might have been a real barrier. It's really troubling that someone could be so disconnected just because of a language difference. Does anyone else think there's a possibility that he tried to reach out but wasn't understood? If so, it might be helpful for people in the area to look back and think about any brief interactions they might have had with someone matching his description around that time. You never know if something that seemed insignificant then might be crucial now. Let's keep talking about how we can ensure everyone has ways to communicate, no matter their circumstances.
