Has anyone else looked into the impact this case had on Omaha's Greek community? It's gut-wrenching to imagine how terrifying it must have been for them after the riot broke out. I can't get over the fact that innocent families lost their homes and businesses because of one individual's actions, sensationalized by the media. It's hard to believe that over a hundred years later, similar instances of collective blame and xenophobia still occur. The way newspapers like the Omaha World-Herald reported this at the time was shocking, and it makes me think about how much responsibility the media has in shaping public sentiment. My heart goes out to both Officer Lowry's family and those in the Greek community who suffered during this tumultuous period. It's a sobering reminder of how dangerous unchecked prejudice can be.
