I've been reading about the tragic murder of Constable William W. Lowther, and something that's sticking with me is how much courage it must have taken for him to confront James Daly, knowing the risks involved. It's truly sad that his dedication to keeping Bisbee safe led to such a tragic end. What's puzzling is how Daly managed to evade capture despite the detailed description and reward for his arrest. It just goes to show how wild and lightly controlled those frontier days were. I'm wondering if anyone has come across other old cases where suspects vanished like this, leaving communities without closure? It must have been incredibly frustrating for Lowther’s family and fellow officers, never really knowing what happened to his killer. Thinking about how they would gather a posse of local townsfolk in those times gives me an eerie chill. People really had to rely on each other to maintain order and safety. Anyone have any thoughts on how they might have organized these searches, or how far they might have gone trying to track Daly down?
