I’ve been reading up on the tragic case of Cindy Richards, Roscoe Merchant, and AnnMarie Merchant, and I can’t stop thinking about the friends and family left to grapple with such an unimaginable loss. I wonder how they managed to cope when the news first broke. It must have been incredibly difficult for them to process the sheer brutality of the crimes, especially knowing that it was someone who had once been close to AnnMarie. I can’t imagine the layers of betrayal and grief they must have felt. I hope they have found some measure of peace over the years, or at least some support among each other and within their community. For those who keep their memory alive, just know there are people out here who are thinking of you and your loved ones. We share in your sorrow and hope for justice, even years later. It’s reminders like these that underscore the profound impact left behind by violent crime, and how essential it is that we remember the victims, not just the perpetrators.
