I’ve been haunted ever since I read about what happened at that Jack in the Box. Does anyone else find themselves wondering about the employees who narrowly missed being at work that night? Beatriz, Kenneth, and Fausto were just part of the fabric of a normal day until this unimaginable horror unfolded. I can’t help but think about their coworkers, maybe friends and family, who might have swapped shifts with them or were scheduled to work the next day. The randomness of it all is so unsettling. It also makes me reflect on how seemingly small decisions in life can sometimes mean life or death. My heart goes out to everyone impacted, particularly those who might live with the 'what ifs' every day. They deserve our support and understanding as they navigate such a heavy burden.
