I'm trying to wrap my head around the senseless violence that took James O. Giles Jr. from his family. Living so close to a school, this tragedy hits on so many levels. How devastating must it be for kids at David Gilbert Jacox Elementary to know something so awful happened nearby? The fact that Mr. Giles was raising eight children just breaks my heart—it's unimaginable to think of what they're going through right now. His little grandsons, Osaris and Jevario, will have to grow up without their grandpa; it's so unfair. The community seems to really be rallying around the family, and that’s incredibly important right now. I hope that the support makes even a small difference for them. I'm also curious if anyone in the area heard or saw anything unusual that night. It’s hard to imagine this happening without more people having clues or information that might help bring context to such a tragic event. I hope they can find the courage to speak up. Thinking of the Giles family and sending them strength.
