I'm really troubled by the implications of underage suspects being charged as adults, especially considering the new law that's being applied in this case. It's concerning to see Amir Zion Baker, at only 17, facing such serious charges as an adult. While it's clear justice needs to be served for Teddy Bacilio's tragic death, I can't help but feel like there's a broader discussion needed about how we handle underage offenders in our legal system. Charging someone so young as an adult doesn't allow us to address the potential root causes of why they got involved in such a horrific crime to begin with. We should be thinking about rehabilitation and prevention as much as punishment. My thoughts are with Teddy's family as they navigate this incredibly tough situation.
